Whether you want to streamline familiar processes or do something completely new with generative AI, many typical barriers hold companies back. I hear about them from companies and experience them in my daily work to accelerate the internal adoption of AI in the Danish Industry.
Based on my conversations with hundreds of companies, Danish Industry's comprehensive analysis, and my own experiences, I have compiled the barriers in this article and practical tips on overcoming them in your business.
The barriers can be divided into organizational and technical. Addressing them immediately is crucial to starting and progressing with AI.

Organizational barriers are about how we adopt technology, not the technology itself. They arise because of our behavior.
Status quo
We prefer to solve tasks in the usual way. We rarely prioritize spending time learning new technology or new ways of working. That's because we know how to complete tasks on time with current methods and tend to fill 100% of our daily capacity with solving those tasks.
Self-prioritization
We may have been told to spend time learning about new technology, but in our busy lives, we often choose to solve tasks the old way. In other words, learning new things is deprioritized because we feel it's more important to complete a task within the deadline than to learn new ways to solve it.
